About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The primary role of the Coordinator of Administration in the University Registrar's Office's is to oversee the reinstatement and reactivation of SMU students.  The position also supports transfer student services. This position helps processing requests to hire, and hiring/supervising student workers. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the application, and reporting processes for SMU students; Create and maintain documentation of all processes related to reinstatement/reactivation applications and web pages; Work closely with campus partners to facilitate the reinstatement/reactivation process; manage communication with students pending reinstatement/reactivation. 

  • Support the Assistant Registrar for Transfer Services, including data entry and data review checks; Assist with special projects and events for transfer students, Oversee the advisement of the Tau Sigma Honor Society; Assist in coordinating the reverse transfer credit process for students.

  • Recruit, hire and manage student workers in the University Registrar's Office; Work with RO leadership to identify specific needs of the office; Schedule student workers to ensure office needs/coverage are met; Provide orientation and FERPA training; Coordinate student worker PAFs and timesheet approvals.

  • Assist with basic transfer and VA questions for student walk-ins to the Blanton-Transfer and Veterans Services suite
    Assist with special projects as needed

  • In accordance with the 2016-2025 SMU Strategic Plan, in the respective capacities of this position, contribute to the Registrar’s Office efforts to support and facilitate the enrollment of high-achieving undergraduate first-year and transfer students; increase the annual number of new transfer students; integrate transfer students into the SMU community, strengthening retention of transfer students and timely completion of graduation. 

 
Qualifications
 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s is required.

A minimum of two (2) years of experience is required. Experience providing administrative support is required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate ability to learn new softwares. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required. Candidate with PeopleSoft Student Administrative System is preferred.

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. 

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
