Job Description:
Longwood University invites applications for the VA Education Benefits Coordinator & Records Specialist (FA007) position in the Office of the Registrar. This position will support all operational functions within the Office of the Registrar contributing to the university’s mission and strategic initiatives aimed at increasing student retention and graduation rates. Responsibilities will include supporting all functions in the records and registration area of the Office of the Registrar. This position serves our Veteran population as the lead School Certifying Official and compliance officer for Veterans Education Benefits. The individual in this role is expected to serve on committees and represent both the Office of the Registrar and the Enrollment Management Team. Additional duties include supervising a part-time support specialist and work-study students.
This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University’s campus.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all tasks performed. Ensure excellence in services rendered. Build and maintain positive interdepartmental relationships and knowledge. Must be knowledgeable in all campus policies and procedures. Have a firm understanding of academic and office policy to offer the best advice to students. Be an expert in FERPA, state and federal regulations as they apply to the university. Have the ability to be well-versed in all areas of the Registrar’s Office to cover any staff shortage within the Records and Registration area.
